The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

James 7 Pedro is money; he’s just a good actor. There was a lot of cute chemistry going on between him and Nic Cage. The story was eh, but it didn’t really matter, it was kind of irrelevant. But it was entertaining throughout. It was also nice they brought in the props from Mandy. This was way better than Isle of Dogs.
Justin 8 I’m a big fan of this kind of stupid movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Pedro Pascal did a great job with the absolute satire. It was probably one of the better Nic Cage movies we’ve seen.
Paul 8 I also enjoy dumb things like this. I was just saying the other day that I haven’t laughed out loud at a movie in a while, and this did it.
Clay 5 I didn’t hate the movie but it was fucking dumb. I didn’t know what the point of it was, other than a giant homage to Nic Cage.
Matt 7 It’s funny because it’s a caricature of Nic Cage’s movies, while also being exactly that kind of movie. I’m really glad Pedro was not an actual bad guy. That would have broke my heart.
Mark 8 The levels of meta, self-referential humor in the script seemed like the sort of thing the writers worked on for years to get just right. Their dialogue was often about the characters’ relationships, the movie they wanted to make, and they movie they were in, all at once. It was clever. It reminded me of productions from Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg.
